Chiropractic Techniques in Campbell, CA: Chiropractic First uses a wide variety of chiropractic techniques to help improve each patient’s spinal misalignments. Campbell Chiropractor, Dr. TJ Gudilin uses a different approach depending on the specific needs of the patient. No matter the chiropractic technique, the goal is the same—to restore the body’s structure to its optimal state prior to lifestyle, injury or other circumstances misaligning it. The different chiropractic techniques used at our practice are Diversified Technique, Activator Methods®, Gonstead Technique, Chiropractic BioPhysics®, Thompson Technique and Toggle Recoil Technique.

Diversified Technique

Diversified Technique is the most commonly used technique among chiropractors. It is also the most frequently used chiropractic technique in the world. When the Diversified Technique is performed, the patient typically sits or stands while Dr. Gudilin positions the joints for movement. He then applies a short, quick thrust in order to push the affected area back into the bounds of the joint’s normal range of motion.

Activator Methods®

Activator Methods® is an instrument-based chiropractic manipulation that uses a small handheld instrument called the Activator Adjustment Instrument. It is a spring-loaded instrument that provides a gentle force that delivers a quicker, lighter thrust—a thrust that cannot be delivered by hand. Dr. Gudilin uses this technique with the goal of restoring motion to the targeted joint or spinal vertebra in his patients.

Gonstead Technique

The Gonstead Technique is a one of the safest ways of evaluating and caring for the spine. As part of this technique, Dr. Gudilin will conduct a full analysis of your spine which includes visually observing the patient, taking x-rays of the problem area, using a heat-sensing instrument to determine slight differences in temperature, and feeling the spine to detect any misalignments. Once these steps are completed, he will use this information to make the appropriate adjustments depending on the individual.

Chiropractic BioPhysics®

Chiropractic BioPhysics® is used at our Campbell facility as a way to restore normal posture back to the body. Methods for this include mirror image posture adjustments, cervical extension traction, rehabilitative exercises, and manual procedures. These various adjustments all involve moving a patient’s body in different ways in order to produce measurable change to the spine’s shape. With this Chiropractic BioPhysics® technique, the spine’s overall positioning is targeted, not just individual segments of the spine.

Thompson Technique

The Thompson Technique uses a drop table that allows Dr. Gudilin to provide high velocity, low amplitude and low force adjustments to his patients. The point of the drop is to distract the joint during the manipulation. The drop pieces assists the thrust while also minimizing the force required for the adjustment. The Thompson Technique can be used in addition to or in place of the standard Diversified Technique.

Toggle Recoil Technique

The Toggle Recoil Technique is the most popular chiropractic technique among patients who need a more gentle approach or prefer it to the type of force with traditional manipulation practices. Dr. Gudilin provides a firm pressure on the area as the headpiece of the table drops gently, creating a recoiling or spring-like vibration. This allows him to use a minimal amount of force, all while implementing accurate precision to the affected area.
