Sports and Athletes’ Care
At Chiropractic First

Woman kayakingAs a former highly competitive athlete, Dr. G understands what it’s like to want that competitive edge. When his pain problems interfered with his ability to play rugby, his mother brought him to the chiropractor.

Not only did the chiropractor help with his pain, but he soon found that he was playing better than ever. Over 20 years, he played at the highest level and has won two national gold medals. With his sports background, Dr. G is the chiropractor in our community for area athletes and active people.

Chiropractic Care for Sports Injuries

Your body’s tissues are always in a state of repair. Every day, our cells break down bones and build new ones. When we’re active, we tear our muscles. The body responds by making the muscles stronger and giving them greater endurance. This wear and tear can take a toll, however. You’ve likely experienced a form of injury before. It keeps you from playing, sometimes for days and other times, weeks, months, years or even permanently.

With chiropractic, you can experience a quicker, more efficient and complete recovery. We’ll advise you on when you can return to your sport and how to build on the progress you’re making in between your visits with us.

Jerry Rice, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and other athletes at the top of their game know this: a chiropractor is an essential part of their health care team. Whether you’re a weekend warrior, semi-pro or professional athlete, you are serious about wanting to stay well and actively participating in your sport.

Chiropractic for athletes isn’t just about addressing an injury. When your spine moves properly, you can maximize your performance. Chiropractic can give you that competitive edge that you seek. With regular checkups, we can ensure that your nervous system stays functioning at its highest potential. In turn, you can, too.

I'm not sure if I'd be considered an athlete. Can you help me?

You don’t need to play at a competitive level to benefit from our sports chiropractic. We help all ages of people who want to be active.
Which athletes do you see most commonly?

We see athletes who engage in football, baseball, rugby, cheerleading, water polo and soccer. Triathletes and weekend warriors also make up our diverse patient base.
When will I be able to return to my sport?

The timetable for your return will depend on the nature of your injury and how quickly you recover. Specific injuries can respond extremely quickly. For example, Dr. G saw a cheerleader with headaches who couldn’t move her neck. As a holder on the team, that wasn’t going to work. She came in and we restored motion that same day.

A football player who couldn’t breathe due to rib problems was adjusted and left fully functional right afterward. We’ll let you know what to expect after your initial consultation.
